O nama/About us

    • Povelju najbolje publikacije u Jugoslaviji u 1983. godini i

The Association of Chemists and Technologists of Serbia, including the section of textile workers, was formed in 1949. The increase in the number of members, as well as the specific tasks of textile technicians and engineers slowly separated textile workers from the Society of Chemists, so on July 30, 1953, the founding assembly of the Society of Engineers and Technicians of Textiles of Serbia was held in Belgrade. The first board was elected and tasks were assigned to the entire membership, which at that moment numbered 580 active members.

And so it began. This was followed by numerous scientific gatherings, consultations, congresses of engineers and textile technicians, cooperation with other societies and associations, the publication of the Bulletin until 1953, and from then until today, the scientific magazine “Textile Industry”.

Regular assemblies of the Association of Engineers and Technicians of Textiles of Serbia (SITTS) were held, new junior members were elected to the management boards, and the presidents were well-known textile industry and very devoted members. Everything was on the rise. Professional gatherings, exchange of experience and professional counseling contributed a lot to the professional development of members, which undoubtedly influenced the work of textile factories.

In addition, the association also worked on in-depth familiarization of members with technical and technological achievements in the world, which is why expert visits were organized to ITMA world textile exhibitions every fourth year and the exhibition, which was regularly held in Moscow.

There were expert councils every year and they gathered a large number of members of the Association. Such intense work undoubtedly brought benefits. The number of members of the Association increased (over 2,000), as well as the number of readers of the magazine Tekstilna industrija (over 1,500 copies were in circulation).

The Union of Engineers and Technicians of Textiles of Serbia (SITTS) has had visible results in the past period, as evidenced by the large number of letters of thanks, charters, and plaques it received.

    We will mention:

    • The biggest textile award – Golden Pushman’s Atlas,
    • Charter of the best publications in Yugoslavia in 1983
    • A great recognition of the Association – the Order of Labor with a Golden Wreath awarded to the President of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz, in 1974.

The magazine “Textile Industry” has been published continuously since the first day, is exchanged with foreign professional and scientific textile magazines, can be found in world libraries, and has a large number of recognitions.

In particular, it should be emphasized that the magazine “Textile Industry” is the winner of the “Best IT Publication in Serbia” Charter for 2001 and 2018, and the Charter is awarded by the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Serbia (SITS).

Since 2018, the International Conference “Modern Trends and Innovations in the Textile Industry” has been used, which gathers a large number of participants from the country and abroad.
